The Learner and Learning

Individuals preparing to become school librarians are trained to support the growth and development of all students. They are committed to creating inclusive and respectful environments where every learner feels valued. By following national library standards, they foster positive learning experiences that honor diversity and individual needs. Through their work, future school librarians help ensure that students are well-prepared for academic achievement, future careers, and life beyond school.

My knowledge of learner and learning grew as a result of creating lessons/projects in the library.  One such project was a reading reward program that I piloted through a language arts class. After finishing a book, a student would receive a bookmark on which they would write a short summary of the book. 
-read  a book, get a book mark   OR  -make a presentation that is a playlist from the book
-summarize the book
-end of the year, get a class party if everyone meets the goal
Through that experience, I learned how to engage learners, increase circulation, and analyze the results of the circulation to arrange a presentation to the principal for support my goal of increasing reader engagement.
